Address confirmation email

So I just got one of those "confirm your address" emails from Fisker. One of the questions they ask on their form is:
"In lieu of home delivery, would you be interested in picking up your vehicle at a Fisker Center or official Fisker pick-up location near you?"

Obviously my first preference is home delivery. But since I'm in northern Atlanta I wonder if picking home delivery will further delay my delivery versus picking up at an official Fisker pick-up location. Thing is, I've never seen a list of "official pick-up" locations. So how would I know where the closet location is for me here in Atlanta? I may have missed this but anyone have some insight on this? I don't mind driving to a location so long as it's not in another state or several hours away. How do you answer this question without a list of pickup location options?

I reached out to the chat to ask about the delivery vs. pickup options and they were no help. I said I couldn't answer without knowing more about cost and distance. They said they didn't know, they were just trying to get a sense of interest. They were going to note my feedback.

I ended up saying I wanted it delivered. I don't know how they're going to trust the data they get from this survey--too little information to respond in a way that reflects the way I feel.

The cost was outlined in the original pre-order terms (but can no longer find online):

Destination and Handling*
Estimated. Due to volatility in logistics market, these charges may change (up or down) and will be finalized upon your final order based upon logistics costs at that time. In the event you choose home or other delivery there will also be a charge based upon distance from the closest Fisker Delivery Center that can range from $800 for 50 miles to $2,300 for 1000+ miles.

Based off the cost that @TT97 shared (assuming it's still valid) are you likely to still do delivery? Do you know where the closest delivery center is to you? Hopefully you aren't too remote.
Distribution Centers for delivery may not necessarily be the Experience Centers. I'm betting there will be multiple on each coast near the vehicle shipping ports I mentioned in a previous post. I'm not sure what they are doing for the center of the country.

I wonder if they're going to do something similar to Rivian with how they handle both deliveries and pickups.
You could opt to get it shipped from a Fisker Distribution Centers for less than $1000. I bought my Volt from a dealer out of state. After the paperwork and the money was wired to the dealer, I arranged for a 3rd party shipper to have my car shipped from Virginia to Florida. It costed me less than $600 for the shipping back in 2017. If you want covered transportation where the car is better protected than an open transportation, then of course that will cost extra but probably still cheaper than what Fisker will arrange.

I’ve shipped or helped family ship 5 cars over the years. I honestly don’t see why Fisker cant use a pro shipper or a buyer like us could arrange our own pickup if it’s too far away. It used to be that enclosed shipping was about 20% more but for some reason last time I checked they really stick it to you If you go that route. But if you’re getting your car on an non enclosed trailer over the mountains perhaps, be prepared for having your car sandblasted by the elements. Kinda depends though on where your car is on the transport and if your car has protective film sheets on it.

Anyway I’ve used DAS 4 times (Dependable Auto Shippers) and had good luck. I honestly cant remember the prices but it was under that $2300 figure for sure. What’s cool is the transport is satellite tracked so you can watch your car in transport and when it’s getting close. With that company they have a designated drop off agent. So it could be a towing company or who knows. The transport company dumps the car off there, and then you come get it.

The last shipping I did was having my ELR come from Ohio (to Portland) from a dealer, about 4 years ago. It was about $1300 (non enclosed) I think at that time. In this case they want you to come to a place where it’s convenient and fast for the truck to get off the freeway and unload. So that’s easy, right off the freeway there’s always big stores or fast food so they pull up, unload, and you come pay the driver directly and off you go.

Regardless, what’s the difference of doing that or having Fisker make the same call? If it’s $2300 I would assume a covered transport. Boy am I gonna feel guilty by all that diesel to get my car here. Why wasn’t that a survey question?

Just for :poop: and giggles, I put in for a quote from Benecia Ca (where our Audi came into port) to Portland on a covered transport. I’ll report back on that.

Given my experience with other EV manufacturers, I opted to reply that I'd be interested in picking up the vehicle at a Fisker Center or official Fisker pick up location.
Here's why:
  • Tesla has a sales and service center in my town and I went there to pick up my MY (like any other dealership)..didn't even think about home delivery.
  • When I ordered the Lucid, I chose to have it delivered to my home (due to the distance to their service centers)... I admit that the home delivery was super easy and very convenient.
  • Rivian has put my R1S reservation on permanent hold .. supposedly due to a lack of locations near me (though there are plenty of R1Ts driving around town). If I had been given a choice to accept delivery elsewhere (in order to get my car sooner), I would gladly have done so... just so that I could get our R1S (which we ordered 2 years ago) instead of this continuous hold.
Therefore, I chose to "let them know that I'd" forego home delivery for the Fisker; especially if it means that I can actually get my car sooner.

IMO, being stuck in limbo (w/ a car coming any day .. for years) is much worse than a slight inconvenience.

Another reason for me picking up at the distribution center is if there are any problems with the car, I can refuse delivery until it is solved/satisfied. Adding a shipper will cause blaming each other if there are problems with the exterior. I'd rather just get it myself.

That's a good reason to pick it up in person to do quality check. Certainly can't do that when the car is shipped directly to one's home.

Actually, quality checks and issue corrections are possible with home deliveries.

I'm not sure how Fisker will handle home deliveries, but I did reject my first Lucid Air GT delivery due to things that needed fixing/correction. In my case, Lucid provided me w/ choices (1- accept delivery and have mobile service come out to rectify issues, 2-reject delivery and have it sent to a service center, fixed, then re-delivered, or 3-reject the car and wait for another one VIN... I chose no. 2 and had to wait another week for the 2nd home delivery). Considering that w/ my Tesla MY, we actually didn't get the car for almost 3 weeks after "delivery" (picked up at dealership a few miles away from me) due to issues that needed to be fixed/addressed, the 2 deliveries (Lucid at home and Tesla at dealership) ended up being quite similar.

That said, the Lucid Air's price point is quite different than the Fisker Ocean, so I'm not sure what options (for dealing w/ issues) will be available .. and I wouldn't risk another Rivian-like situation (=permanent hold), hence my willingness to forego home delivery of the Ocean.

PS: For the Lucid, I was able to print out the "Delivery Checklist" that folks had developed and posted on the Lucid owner's forum to provide me w/ a list of items to check. I think it's always a good idea to have a list of "items to check" handy at delivery time. I hope that as Fisker Ocean One owners begin to receive their cars, they can post things to look for so that a checklist (in similar fashion to the Lucid Owner's forum) can then be provided for others on this forum.
🤞

Please do. I actually would like to come to PDX to pick mine up. A 150 mile drive home to SEA would be a nice shake out get to know you drive. I am sure a few other Seattle based ONE buyers would feel the same way.

I asked when the form came out, but they didn't know where the delivery centers would be, so there was no way for me to gauge the burden of going to get the car versus cost of delivery.

Did you try the price estimator? For the One, it shows $0 delivery but I believe it does show a cost for other trims.

I am getting a One. This is what it says if I try for pickup:

I do show a $0 delivery and the $2,438 destination and handling fee that I think everyone getting a One gets, so I'm not really sure what to do with all this.

I have a hard time believing there will be no cost difference between delivery and pick-up (though that would be nice!). I'm in North Carolina, if that is useful info.

Thanks!

Could be up to $2300 for delivery at home. A flight and pickup, then drive it home might be cheaper ….and a lot more fun.
