15 amps will not be enough to power basic household appliances (refrigerator, microwave, lights, TV, internet, ....), your generator must have at least a capacity of 5000 watts. I'm not a connoisseur but the charging socket for the Ocean should be connected to the auxiliary panel, when the power is out you just have to activate the transfer switch to on and activate the breakers you need in the auxiliary panel. Once the power comes back you put the transfer switch back to off.
There are several systems but $7000 or $12000 is exaggerated.
This is not entirely true. I just went through a blackout last night for about 18 hrs in Cali and my EV6 powered 2 fridges, short throw projector TV, bedroom TV, router, modem, apple TV, and DirectTV, and a few lights just fine. Max pull was 1000 watts when the fridge compressor kicked it. I had to use a bunch of extension cords and power strips because I couldn't get my transfer switch working for some weird reason. If you just run your fridge, TV, lights, and internet you will be just fine with V2H using extension cords. The EV6 can deliver 1900 watts max continuously until 20% of the battery is left. Overall my devices drew about 14% of the battery ~11kWh during the blackout.

this is a great real-world example of V2G technology in action. Looks like you would be fine in that scenario for a week plus - minus running AC/Heater too much.
Thanks for this and good luck with the weather out there. My nephew is in San Fran and he said they got over 4” in a day. Crazy rain totals.

Our area had over 11" of rain in one day when Hurricane Ian went by our area last year. It was the most rain we've ever had in one day over the course of 25 years we have lived here. We had a small "pond" in the back yard, and the retention area was at 75% capacity. Luckily none of the houses in our subdivision flooded.

Oh yeah ,i had 5-9” a few times living in florida during a few of our tropical storm/hurricane episodes, but 4-6” reported from just a severe weather “atmospheric river” event - and like for the second time in the past year, is troubling indeed.

We don't get many blackouts so this is pretty much my plan for the Ocean - V2H with bunch of extension cords (Heat/AC really not an issue here - I can put on my cozy Fisker Eco-Friendly Street Hoodie if it gets chilly). Fidge, some lights, WiFi is all I need.

This is actually a V2L application. Some useful distinctions:

• V2G is using vehicle to feed power back to the utility to help provide peak load support.
• V2H is using the vehicle to provide backup home power (integrated through the electrical panel)
• V2L is using the vehicle to power a one-off external load (e.g. a refrigerator, a power tool, etc.)

These require very different capabilities in the vehicle and in the home. EV6 has V2L capability only. Ocean has V2H capability (by eoy). V2G requirements are still poorly defined but will require similar capabilities to what is in the Tesla Powerwall re software integration.

Just to add to your post. I'm seeing more references to V2X which encompasses all variations.

Technically the Ocean is capable of V2L. There is a 120V outlet in the cargo area along with the 12V receptacle. We don't know how much power it is rated at, but if we can assume nominal amperage of 15A, then 15A x 120V = 1800 watts.

Yes I should have said Ocean has V2L and V2H capabilities (just like F150).

Wallbox Quasar 2 V2X box is available in the EU:
Here is a shop in Sweden that has it: Wallbox Quasar 2 - Laddboxbolaget
well, they are also just announcing it for 2023, they do not actually have it or sell it.
fair enough as I will not need it before Ocean Ultra delivery end of the year
by then I will look for more products to come and examples in use

🤬, we’re already dinosaurs: CES 2023: The eLeap Inverter Can Boost EV Charging Speed by Tossing Out the Onboard Charger

I know this stuff won’t be in production for a few years … this was needed years ago! Today’s EVs feel like those “proof of concept” projects were leadershit suddenly goes “good enough, send it to production!”
Technical innovations are expected since this is a new market. It doesn't mean that previous cars were done wrong. That said, this does look like a good idea and efficiency booster/cost saver for manufacturers. Hopefully real world and production level versions will validate the concept.

"Coming 2024" ... :(
I’ll buy their Level 2 portable charger for $400 and use it for a while and either save it for road trips as a backup or sell it for $200+ when the V2X is available

Gonna echo what's mostly been said... Waiting on pricing and availability for both the Wallbix Quasar 2 and Emporia V2X, they can't seem to arrive fast enough. I already have solar and generate a lot of excess on sunny days!
