When the rush came out to lock in your order and get the EV tax credit I ordered an Ultra. After I locked in Fisker has been on social media saying the Extreme has better value for $19K more instead of paying $34k in options for Ultra. I asked about upgrading and Fisker said no.

What! You don't want to sell a higher-priced variant? Has anyone else encountered this?

I doubt it's a firm "no". It's more of, Fisker not wanting or caring to let you change the order you put in because it doesn't matter enough to warrant that work.

The reason for that...is you will build your Ocean when the configurator gets released in October, or whenever they choose to send it out to "finalize" your build.
During then, you can change your trim from Ultra to Extreme or whatever.

The email/order thing is really honestly just a way to lock in the EV credits. It's far from "final".

FWIW I asked a similar question (Can I change my order from Ultra to Extreme later?) to Henrik on IG and he gave me a confirmatory thumbs up emoji.

I suspect what you are hearing is that you cannot upgrade and still retain your firm binding order for the tax credit. You can of course upgrade but it would essentially be a new order. That is an IRS thing not a Fisker thing. I suspect the person you spoke to was confused.

I got a response from a Fisker advisor (or whatever it is in Danish) on whether or not I can change one of my non-refundable-fee pre-orders from the Ultra to the Extreme. The response was that I can't change the trim on the locked non-refundable pre-orders. It also said that the preorders for the Extreme and for the Ultra will reopen on November 18th, 2022, at which time I can place a pre-order for the Extreme. To me it sounded like the existing locked non-refundable-deposit pre-orders are already queued up for production, and those who didn't convert their earlier reservations to the non-refundable pre-orders are not part of this queue. If I hadn't converted one or both of my refundable-deposit reservations to a non-refundable-deposit pre-order, I would have been able to use that reservation to choose the trim, but only starting on November 18th. Because I converted to the non-refundable-deposit pre-order, neither one of my Ultra pre-orders can be converted to the Extreme, so I would have to make another deposit to reserve the Extreme if I wanted it.

Here's hoping that my Ultra pre-orders (reserved on January 1, 2022 and January 3, 2022) will be delivered in mid 2023.

Oh well, I am not worried. I just am not happy you have to pick without knowing all the differences.
