Hello everyone,
I've been tossing around the idea of purchasing an EV over a Subaru Outback...some backstory: I bought a new outback last year after a "government sponsored" overseas vacation and loved it. Now I'm going on another "government sponsored" vacation, so I sold the old car and reserved an Ocean, which should have almost a year of production time for people to really get a handle on it's quirks and any issues by the time I am actually available to take delivery. I'll be living in Colorado and will probably spring for an Extreme because I'll occasionally want the range to wander around out in the mountains and AWD will be nice. Plus the solar roof will probably be great in Denver, and driving canyons in CA mode just seems wonderful.
I joined this forum to keep up to date on the Ocean, and to collect input from people shove had EV's and are now driving the Ocean.
It's definitely terrifying thinking of spending 70k+ on the first car from a company, but watching interviews and reading a bit I feel a bit better.
Here's to hoping the Ocean meets expectations!!

Greetings from Boulder, @mondaywarrior! I'll admit I'm super curious about government sponsored vacations--I'm thinking the military, a witness protection program, or somewhere in between. Well, we don't judge.

I had Outbacks for years & they are the national car of Colorado for good reason. But I'm looking forward to an Ocean Extreme for the same reasons you list + what I think/hope will be fantastic traction control in the snow. I am right around the 20k reservation mark, so hoping for mine by Jan/Feb 2023.

Have a safe..."vacation".

Excellent choices. So much of the state is beautiful; I'll put a plug in for the Buena Vista area, the 4 Corners area and Durango, north to Steamboat Springs, Gateway, CO (and the car museum there) and on and on. Lots to explore & I hope the Extreme works out for both of us.

We traded our 2017 Outback (our fifth Subaru) for an AWD VW ID.4, and never looked back! And if the Ocean arrives it will have even more range… Good luck!
We traded a 2014 Outback for the ID.4 AWD :) (well, actually, sold it independently as VW didn't give us a satisfactory trade in). Trying to decide if the Ocean will replace the Tesla or the ID.4.
