This article isn't about the PEAR, but it certainly relates. I always knew that this was a possibility.

In January, Lordstown asked Foxconn to suspend production because the cost of making the trucks exceeded the targeted sale price of $65,000. A few weeks later it became clear that the Endurance suffered from, well, a lack of endurance. At least one owner reported that the truck had lost power while driving in cold weather, prompting the company in February to issue a recall. Then on March 6, Lordstown said that if it can’t team up with an experienced automaker, it would be forced to discontinue the pickup, its only model.

This thread has been closed on the PEAR Facebook page. The moderator's take is that the PEAR is a mobility device that will question everything that we know about automotive vehicles. Maybe that's true to a point, but it'll still have wheels, a steering wheel, suspension, etc. In other words more complex than assembling phones. Of course I hope that all goes well, but I won't be putting a deposit on one until they're on the road and we can read reviews.

My impression of the PEAR design is that Fisker Inc intends on a car that has a lot of extras stripped away & uses cheaper materials, but makes up for that with a quality build. I can see it going either way with Foxconn. Less complexity (relative to other cars) would make their job easier, while the need to consistently build the cars to a high level of quality would be harder without all the institutional knowledge.

I hate cult shit like that where you're not allowed to express doubt in the cult leader.
