So why am I posting here about Hyundai? Henrik said that the PEAR won't have conventional doors or a trunk. I'm wondering if Hyundai will beat Fisker to the punch with its sliding door. Of course we won't know what they have planned for quite some time.

I see lots of complications with roof racks. Also rain protection while loading cargo. There's probably a reason why nobody does this.
Good point about roof racks. I'm a kayaker so I need one. However, I'm planning on buying an Ocean assuming good road tests and safety reviews. I'm still very interested in the PEAR though.

Personally, I think it's an overly complicated design.
Don't believe, Henrik Fisker, a Danish designer would resort to this complexity

There's got to be a better way!

Unfortunately it's going to be quite a while before we know specifics. As he said, he doesn't want to divulge too many details until it's close to coming out.

Kind of reminds me of the superbly engineered but overly complicated

That wont catch on unless they can do it without running into roof rails and cargo boxes. Also I like the point about rain protection when loading and unloading. Or shoot, just being able to grab lunch, pop the gate, and sit in the shade and eat.
