I just read a post on FB from someone who saw the Ocean at Pebble Beach. He was told that there would be a choice of vegan leather, suede, or fabric, all coming from recycled materials. I'm getting more excited as the release gets closer.
Suede, hmmmmI just read a post on FB from someone who saw the Ocean at Pebble Beach. He was told that there would be a choice of vegan leather, suede, or fabric, all coming from recycled materials. I'm getting more excited as the release gets closer.
I understand the nail trimmings will give it that rugged textureWon’t be “suede” suede but some recycled version of suede made from ocean debris or old water bottles or the nail trimmings from an endangered Brazilian sloth or some other environmentally friendly material. The whole rationale and investor selling point on the Ocean was sustainability and as small a carbon footprint as possible.
Information matches what is in the press pack (still). Good to know. Sticking with my Black Abyss choice.I spoke to people in Monterey yesterday and here is what they told me about the seat material. The Sea Salt and Maliblu will have the Eco-leather and Eco-suede mix only, (like it shows in the display car at Monterey). The only full leather option will be available on Black Abyss.
I have the all black interior on one of my ID4s (and light gray in the other) here in the sun of the Sunshine state and don’t mind it. I actually love the way it looks in the VWs.The thing I hate about the Black Abyss is that nothing is breaking it up. Most cars with all-black interior end up looking cheap and are dust magnets, not to mention that black is just not cool in the California sun. You can always change the seat covers, but not the dashboard etc. It would have been nice to have grey/charcoal accents at least. As I am waiting for the Sport, I am still hoping that there will be another option than Black Abyss.
The ID.4 has the contrasting dashboard/door panels to break up the darkness (I don't know about the brown color they chose but at least it is a change). The reason I chose SeaSalt over the other trims was more to do with the lighter trims than the seat color. The Black (and even MaliBlu) trims are very dark; with dark dashboard, door trims, center armrest and upper trim as well.I have the all black interior on one of my ID4s (and light gray in the other) here in the sun of the Sunshine state and don’t mind it. Agreed. And the blue interior is mostly a black interior with blue seats. I'm planning to get white simply as the only light color option, but wish there were more. Don't really want suede, but that's what you have to get if you dont want black. A lighter interior makes the whole car feel cooler and roomier. The thing I hate about the Black Abyss is that nothing is breaking it up. I would disagree with the blue being just on the seats. The upper and middle dash, console and parts of the doors are also blue.Agreed. Oh my mistake. Well the blue is so dark it's nearly black in photographs and in the configurator. Really wish there were more options for lighter colors.I would disagree with the blue being just on the seats. The upper and middle dash, console and parts of the doors are also blue.

I actually really like that press kit version of the maliblu as i felt the one in the preproduction Big Sur Blue model is too light and a bit loud with the different accents. It is super unclear to me how these interiors will look in the production model. The Press Kit version of the Malibu has much darker fabric than the prototype vehicle.

The SeaSalt looks like the the pre-production model touring Europe (naturally, the CAD rendering from the press kit will not be a perfect match for a real product). The again, the Sea Salt is much brighter than the prototype to my eyes...
