Hi all. Brand new to the forum here... just put my preorder in today for a Launch Edition Ocean One.... which I find super-odd as they said only 5,000 would be made and with 50,000 pre-orders, how on Earth am I still eligible for the Launch Edition today?

As of right now, I have my $250 deposit accepted and my currently saved configuration is a Launch Edition Ocean One.

I came across an article from July, 2022 that said the Launch Orders were being asked to pony up a $5K non-refundable deposit. Can anyone shed some light for me on what is really going on? Do I actually have a reservation for a Launch Edition, or is that just what my "saved" configuration says and they plan on giving me bad news later on down the line.... or did so many people not place the $5K and now I have a spot and they are going to ask me for $5K?

What's the general concensus on this ask anyway...? Seems like a red-flag to me. As a stock-holder in Fisker, I'm a bit worried. In your opinion should I be? How many on here ponied up the $5K?

Brand new to this company and looking for any insight anyone can provide. FWIW - I am currently awaiting delivery of my first EV - A Rivan R1T scheduled for delivery in November, 2022.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Matt,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to be the one that breaks this to you but that reservation is basically stating to Fisker that you are interested in getting an Ocean. It does not lock anything in. The configurator is simply just a tool to explore the trims right now and has nothing to do with what you want.

When you get the opportunity to convert your reservation to an order, that will lock in your "place in line" (I put that in quotes because this is not transparent, currently), your desired trim, and the pricing.

The One trim is all spoken for according to Fisker, but you will be able to get the similarly equipped Extreme trim. Most likely they will still have room for 2023 production on that model when they reopen orders for reservation holders again in November.

Hope that helps clarify things but feel free to ask questions!

At this point, you would think they would remove "Fisker Ocean One" from the configurator?

I don't know how you read it but I read into it that the configurator doesn't really lock in your trim etc... it is a tool to see colors on body, interior, wheel style, and model trim to get to the "price" for the configured speculation. But let's say you speculate at today's date you want black body. When they get to your place in "line" to see if you are ready to actually pony up and order - you will be instructed to pick your final trim and colors and other options. Therefore, you may wait further based on where manufacturing is on a certain trim. All very "wait wait" for now but new things take time.

Yes, the configurator is just informational; doesn't really do anything. The issue is anyone new to Fisker will think they can still order the One since it doesn't explain well the configurator doesn't do anything. As the One is sold out with a long waitlist, there really is no point of still having it shown on the configurator. They can still have the configurator with the three trims available. (See the first post for reason to get rid of the One in the configurator.)
