Looking to sell?

I am an early reservation holder (fist 5000) and am having a change of heart currently and considering selling my Fisker. Anyone else in the same boat or have any suggestions on the best way to do this?

FWIW a number of folks have indicated there are in a similar situation. It is inevitable that among 5,000 people, situations and preferences will change over the year+ since contracting for a vehicle. The options are pretty limited because of Fisker's trifecta of highly unusual rules: (1) non-refundable deposit (2) no sale or transfer of reservation (3) Fisker has the right to cancel your order and keep your deposit if they learn you are planning to purchase for resale.

Given this, I think most folks have come to the realization that your only real option at this point is to stay the course and see how the car is received by the press and the public. If there is a strong positive reaction then you should be able to buy and flip the vehicle for somewhere between break-even and a small profit given the ONE discount versus the Extreme plus eligibility for the tax credit. If there is a lukewarm / negative reaction to the vehicle or it goes mostly unnoticed, then the alternative is to write off the $5k as a pricey lesson learned.

I think you may be able to sell the One at a little loss. Remember a BRAND NEW ONE with zero miles is still a second hand car and will usually loose at least 5-10% value because of this. The One May be able to be sold at cost give. 22 inch wheel and colour. I am not sure many people will pay extra for what is in effect a second hand car.
For my ONE the math versus someone who decides today that they want to buy an extreme would be this:

Font Rectangle Parallel Number Pattern

So if I sell for, say, $74k, the person would still have to pay sales taxes but would come out around $5,000 better off and get a car immediately, and I would come out $5,000 to the good. So, at least in the US due to the tax credit situation, there is an arbitrage here where both parties can do well.

Isn’t it illegal to announce your intent to sell before you claim the $7500 credit? You’ve just lost your $7,500 credit.

Additionally, I recall Fisker can cancel your order and keep the $5,000 reservation if they find out you are planning to resell the One.

Congrats on both counts.

No one is selling. they are saying IF they sell. "IF" and "Considering" does not mean a sale. People are not trying to sell to scalp and make a profit. they may try and sell because they have been SCREWED OVER. Thtas why Fisker cannot do dodgy shit like this in Europe. Several people backed off and got their whole money back minus £25.

£25 is now European currency?

The $5,000 reservation fee was the crucial moment for me not to get the One - along with the $69,000, which I thought was a little too much - even after the $7,500 credit. Certainly, by last year’s crazy prices, the price of One was lower than the Model Y long range by about $5,000, which made sense. It makes no sense today due to the Model Y costing $42,500 after the $7,500 credit in the US.

However, those who paid $5,000 will have to face the consequences. There is no reselling the One at a profit as many have hoped. The market is completely different today. I hope they will enjoy their Ones.

LOL. I am citing a hypothetical example. As I said above: "if I sell for, say, $74k..."

There are 29 official currencies in use across European countries: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_currencies_in_Europe

And, yes, sterling is one of them.
Yes, indeed in the European Union, you have a right to cancel contracts like these. I cancelled my One and got everything back except 25 USD.

That’s why we are the Wild West and you are not.

I agree... Other than may be a handful... Many won'tale a profit ...unless taking the 7.5k rebate into account .

Still can’t make a profit. The tax will be $5,000 give or take. $69,000 - $7,500 + $5,000 = $66,500 (out of pocket). If they can break even, they will be lucky.

Try selling a used Fisker One for $66,000 when a new Long Range Model Y with most expensive wheels and paint can be had for $20,000 less or Model Y Performance for $15,000 less.

Well then why buy a Model Y when you can buy a Bolt for $20k less? Just because they are both EVs, doesn't make them the same.

More expensive wheels? You do realize the Model Y is more of an appliance right? I feel for the Model Y in the same way I feel for my wonderful LG washing machine.

What you are really saying is that the Ocean Extreme will not sell at its current price. Time will tell. Model Y has a lot of nice things going for it, but Ocean has a solid 25%+ more range and a bunch of other unique features.

Not everyone pays tax on EV's ;)

I'll likely take delivery of mine (Extreme), claim the tax credit (on my 2022 return) and flip it for the Cybertruck in under a year.

Isn’t NJ the only state that has zero tax on EVs? Your property taxes are so high that it makes sense to live in an EV.

Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon don't have sales taxes on any vehicle.
