I had calculated 7K down, so 5K helps.
Do you think so? For a vehicle that costs this much? I'm sure a lot of people are looking to trade in their current vehicle to fund their initial payment so you may be right. I just mean to say that people buying nearly $70k vehicles aren't living paycheck to paycheck.Considering the $5,000 deposit will weed out a lot of reservation holders. I can see it easily going from 20-30k in the queue before reaching 5,000 Ones.
I know (unfortunately) people who make way over $100k a year with no savings, and no retirement. You would be surprised how many people live month-to-month on high salaries.Do you think so? I think people who can shell out 70k for a car wouldn't have an issue with the 5k deposit. What they would have an issue with is that none of the specs have been confirmed at all. What if the 350 mile range is actually 300 miles or you can only get half of the promised packages available by November? You could get baited and switched and lose 5k instantly.Do you think so? Great point. The other thing that I know, but didn't mention, is people that want to spend this much on a car are often very smart with their money and they may not see a $5000 deposit as a good use, ESPECIALLY when the final specs are unknown. The car could be denied at delivery, no?I think people who can shell out 70k for a car wouldn't have an issue with the 5k deposit. Wait until they go to college. My first one just finished freshman year and is $60k/year! Luckily the second one will be going to a state school!G

Anyway, affordability is relative. I've got daycare costs that are almost double the median American mortgage payment. It definitely is a temporary drag on my expendable income.
Haha I hear you. My sister went to a $45k/year school. I luckily had a full scholarship for athletics.Wait until they go to college. My first one just finished freshman year and is $60k/year! Luckily the second one will be going to a state school!
They don't have socialized day care in Canada? I thought I was in the same boat with my kid; then my wife decided he needed to go to private elementary school and now I miss what I was paying for day care. (And day care was year round, no 3 months of summer needing to figure out what to do with the kid.)I've got daycare costs that are almost double the median American mortgage payment. Quebec has socialized daycare. Ontario actually just passed a daycare subsidy, so we will see what costs will be like when that comes into effect. I think they are saying $10/day. Which is much better than the $72 we pay now. But in the city of Toronto, it's supply and demand, not a ton of available daycare. You literally have to get on a waiting list when you find out you are pregnant. They don't have socialized day care in Canada? There is nowhere right now to invest $5,000 to save it from inflation. Nowhere. So, instead of it sitting in the bank and losing value to inflation, you may as well put in a deposit on the Fisker One and lock in the price. You can always resell the One at a profit and harvest the Federal Tax Credit in the process.G

Canadian deposit is 6500$ for the ocen one and I assume this would be the same for all trim levels. and newly listed Canadian prices.on the website are 43000$ sport, 63999$ ultra and 89000$ extremeBTW, Canadian purchasers of the
Fisker Ocean Ultra will still
qualify for the $5000 EV rebate
(Equals the $5000 Fisker deposit)
“Canadians who want to purchase a truck, SUV, or van will be eligible to receive the incentive if the vehicle has an MSRP of under $60,000 (higher trims of these vehicles will qualify if the MSRP is under $65,000).”
I think that’s understandable. With our $5000 deposit on our Jag order, we can cancel at any time UNTIL the build date. When they give us a build date, then we have to poop or get off the pot.Anecdotally, the Facebook Fisker Ocean group (6800 members) has a poll and four members that say they were contacted so far.
Another thing is that after you pay the $5000 deposit, if you cancel at any point before buying it, you lose the entire $5000 deposit.
Some people (like me) are/were able to get a pre-qualify deal with a credit union to buy a car up to a certain amount. I bought my ELR (used), and when I sold my i3, I went back into the credit union and they redid the deal and the payment amount with zero problem.Do you think so? For a vehicle that costs this much?
