I do enjoy that a lot of vehicles are getting EV options and this might just be me but I am also kind of disappointed at the same time. I find myself leaning towards brands like Polestar, Tesla, Rivian and Fisker because they are new to market and have been designed from the ground up to be an EV. I even prefer the Ionic 5/EV6 because I appreciate they were designed to be an EV in a completely new design to their current offerings. Personally, I think more legacy brands should have followed in the footsteps of Volvo. Either resurrect an old name where it is basically a new one, or create a new brand entirely. Hyundai/Kia are a close second as they are just creating a new line of vehicles which is close to the same effect. I don't particularly harbour any brand loyalty so maybe this is just me though.

They thing that bothers me about Polestar is what happens when all of Volvos vehicles are EVs (a couple years tops)? I feel that Polestar may be a more premium version of Volvo and that will fit better into Geely's portfolio. The same thing with the large Euro companies, eventually all their products will be EV, where would that leave a standalone EV brand?

I'm very excited about the Macan EV. I am on the list at my local dealer but there was an article a day or two ago that they are having some issues with software or the software modules and that may push back the release Years.

I think most brands are creating their own EV line or already announced intentions for going all EV. Ford is creating a separate entity for EVs; Mercedes has the MQ brand; VW has the ID brand. Polestar is a separate (mututally owned) company from Volvo so they can co-exist just like Chevrolet & Buick or countless of others (although not as many as 15 years ago). My one issue with the Polestar 2 is that it was not designed from the ground up to be an EV, the car comes from the CMA platform that use used for ICE cars as well (XC40 and several Geelys/Lynks).

@MTN Ranger
MEH design….
I don’t like the frog eyes, very busy front appearance and the sloping rear hatch.
it already looks dated!
I think Henrik Fisker‘s Ocean design is much more contemporary!
Of course looks are subjective. I think in most polls, a majority of people like Porsche designs. Porsche looks are dated by design. They have a many decade tradition of that!

The Macan seems small, we were turned off by the interior room when we looked at them some years ago. Also, at least back then (I think 2016), the interior was so busy. And they have this huge FOB thing that looks like your huge-ass key got stuck in the weirdly placed ignition hole. Huge turn off for the wife.

We both drove it separately. We were stoked to drive it. Its a Porsche, it‘s going to be great! We were both very disappointed. It just didn’t have any character. No soul. Just this finely made machine that showed you how fast your were accelerating yet didn’t feel like it. We passed. And the really odd thing is my i3 that I had at the time, FELT way faster. And I know it’s way slower, but it felt faster. EV torque just rules.

We configured a Macan again this month for poops and giggles because we’re kicking around not waiting years for a 🤬 build date for her Jag and possibly getting a Macan again. The interior is way better looking now, but still busy. I think they still have that stupid huge “can’t remove key thingy” too. So weird. The salesguy could not give us an explanation why they do that. He tried but he sounded like an idiot with some lame excuse.

At least with Porsche, the guy I talked to last week said they could get me any (ICE) car I wanted within 3 to 4 months …. We’re going on 7 months now with Jag, no build date :mad: - no chips to be had. If only they used Doritos

Macan EV is the one I would compare with Ocean Ultra or Extreme... and I think Fisker Ocean is going to be better and cheaper. Macan will have to do a lot better for that price. It would seem silly to sit in the Macan - and watch an Ocean Extreme pull up next to it, and then leave it behind.

But I do think the top Ocean must improve its range to Lucid-like range numbers (close to 500 miles)... and the Ultras more than 400 miles in their first production run... and then no one can touch Fisker Vehicles. I believe the new CATL batteries in 2023 should be able to do this without much cost premium.
