Dear Fisker Family,

This is my HYPOTHETICAL proposal to answer Tesla's substantial price reduction.
Henrik Fisker does not have to respond with across-the-board price reductions on the EXISTING model trims.
However, introducing an entirely new model trim to rebut the Tesla price discounts would be ideal

MAJOR DIFFERENCES (between SPORT and ULTRA models)

1) 82 KWh NMC battery to give greater power over the 82 KWh LFP Sport Battery
This will lower cost from 110 KWh NMC (25% smaller size)
2) Exterior Colour: Midnight Drive standard
3) Interior Trim: Black Abyss Plus
4) Wheels: 20" F7 AeroStealth Aluminum wheels
5) Fisker Premium Sound (8 speakers)
6) Delete California mode to open/close 7 windows
7) Delete Fisker Intelligent Pilot (ADAS)
8) Delete Revolve Screen

VOILÁ:
I introduce the SPORT Plus or SPORT+ model designation.
It would be split the difference between th ULTRA and SPORT models

I don't believe that targeted range would work out as such. The higher discharge rate and added motor would cause the range to drop, given the same capacity. Even with the other models, your table doesn't make sense (specifically Ultra vs Extreme/One).

The suggestion seems fair, but the details don't add up. Would need more reliable information.

@OceanShawn
This is strictly an exercise to split the difference between Ocean Sport & Ultra models.

Fisker Inc would need to calculate the costs and ranges...... but the basic premise is sound.
25% battery capacity reduction in the high power NMC Battery to reduce cost & range
I have no idea what the 82 KWh NMC battery would be.

I appreciate your desire for an in-between spec (which I agree is the sweet spot from a price/features perspective). OTOH, the reason Tesla needs to spur demand is that they are trying to move 1.8 million model Y / Model 3s this year (+/-). Fisker is trying to move a few tens of thousands. I do not think he needs to spur demand with new models. And I suspect the PEAR will push the Sport right off the cliff. The $39k Pear will have all the stuff you are seeking I suspect in a somewhat smaller package.

You will need to remove the AWD and increase the battery to 96 KWh then you clould get 300 miles. I would like to get the heat pump as an option on this trim.

Thx @Baker...
you MAY be on the right track!
So, let's increase the NMC battery to 90 KWh...similar to the new Nissan Ariya E-Force AWD
It's got the Horsepower, too much pickup 0-60 mph and not enough range 265
There's gotta be some tweaking to hit the Sport Plus sweet spot

Nissan 2023 Ariya, Platinum+ e-4ORCE AWD version offered the following specs.
  • Powertrain: Dual Motor AWD with e-4ORCE
  • Battery Capacity: 91 kWh
  • EPA est. Range: 265 miles
  • Horsepower: 389 hp
  • Torque: 442 lb.-ft.
  • 0-60 mph: 4.8 seconds
  • Wheelbase: 109.3 inches

@Blu Angel you are pretty close now :)
Remove the AWD to reduce the cost and the HP to about 300 HP, both revisions will help to increase the range at 300 miles.

Perhaps someone could explain to me how a 82kWh NMC battery would provide greater range than a 82kWh LFP battery, assuming both are charged/discharged to the same%. Granted that the NMC battery would be lighter than the equivalent LFP, so some efficiency gain there all else unchanged. However if both are giving back the same amount of energy, why would the NMC provides more range?

Fisker Inc hires the highly regarded @Baker to lead development
of the "Sweet Spot" Ocean Sport Plus

@flapajack
NMC batteries are way more energy dense than an equivalent sized LFP battery
Perhaps Dr @Baker could chime in and educate the Oceanforum plebes!

Not sure what thread it was but I think I already mentioned, it would step on the toes of the Ultra.
Yes, we know your position, but the model 3 long range still sells more than the regular model. Anyway we have no impact on the decisions of HF, we are only discussing the possible avenues for Fisker.

ADJUSTED MAJOR DIFFERENCES (between SPORT and ULTRA models)

1) 90 KWh NMC battery to give greater power over the 82 KWh LFP Sport Battery
This will lower cost from 110 KWh NMC (18% smaller size)
2) Add single motor RWD (Remove Dual Motors AWD)
2) Exterior Colour: Midnight Drive standard
3) Interior Trim: Black Abyss Plus
4) Wheels: 20" F7 AeroStealth Aluminum wheels
5) Fisker Premium Sound (8 speakers)
6) Delete California mode to open/close 7 windows
7) Delete Fisker Intelligent Pilot (ADAS)
8) Delete Revolve Screen

@Baker, what do you postulate will be the HP rating, 0-60 mph times and mileage range?

And Fisker already has a “regular” model. It‘s called the Sport. Don’t hold your breathe that such a model comes to fruition. Again, it would negative impact Ultra sales and that is going to be Fiskers top selling model. They could tweak the Sport model in the future to bring it closer to the Ultra but you are not going to see a model slotted between Sport and Ultra. It just doesn’t make any business sense.

In addition to what @HotIce (especially if you are raising the idea of engineering a new vehicle to accomodate a 3rd battery), Fisker will never delete #7 & #8 as you are taking away their ability to additional monetization. Also, wouldn't make sense to have features missing that are available in the less expensive models - the only examples I can think of this happening is exotic sports cars that have racing models stripped of all luxury items (i.e. door handles/air conditioning) for weight savings.

I agree that Fisker could not get away with removing features in a more expensive model. People were losing their minds about the cost of paint, wheels, and packages as is.

Also, in regard to #2, there is already a single motor variant, The Sport. Single Motor FWD.

With 300HP the 0-60 mph time would be about 6-6.5 sec and mileage range on 300 miles. On my BMW I4 I have 340HP and can get 0-60 mph in 5.4 sec.
RWD is so funny to drive on snow!!! WOOOOOO!!!
