This is the first thread where I transitioned from "TYP is occasionally annoying" to "oh, TYP doesn't understand the first page of an Econ101 textbook". Now I feel bad. I'm sure I've drawn your ire too.

No one here is saying Tesla will never sell another car. They are producing tons of cars. But if they aren't selling them as fast as the produce them they can reduce price and increase the sales speed. They can also throw the rest of the industry into a tizzy by dropping their prices and taking back customers that were looking at other options. Their margins are so good that price reductions don't hurt them much, but other companies can't match them.

Don't be so defensive. No one here says the demand is gone. The demand is just less than it was 2 years ago. There is more competition. So they drop prices to increase their demand back to a healthy level, and it works for them. Most legacy OEMs can't match the aggressive cuts.

So many members here take things said about a corporation, whether Fisker or Tesla, so personally. It's so strange to me.

To be clear, demand is far, far higher than it was two years ago. But since then the company has opened global scale plants in Germany, Texas, and expanded China.

Two years ago in 2020 Tesla produced 500k vehicles. Last year it was 1,370k so by any measure demand is at an all-time high but supply is growing faster than demand at the original price so price needs adjustment to get demand growing faster than supply again.

The demand is significantly higher than it was 2 years ago. The demand at the price of $66,000 for the base Model Y LR is much lower than it was a year ago. But the demand is huge at the price of $55,000 for the base Model Y LR.

Musk siphoned out an extra $16,000 per Model Y from those who could afford to pay that much. Once he realized he was running short on those willing to pay the elevated prices, he lowered the price to what it was 1.5 years ago. Then, he raised the price by $1,000 and then by another $500. He settled at the price where the demand is matching the supply, which is still $6,000 more than the cheapest price that the Model Y LR once sold for.

@BayouCityBob and @sirozha , I totally understand you. I should have said something like demand/supply ratio or whatever economists and marketing professionals talk about. You improved and clarified my point many fold, thanks.

On the same line of thinking, I feel like that's why Fisker isn't advertising a ton. They don't want demand that's 3 years worth of production. Right now they feel like their current list of preorders (~65k people?) doesn't require more advertising. If the pro reviews and customer feedback is good, they will have a a gazillion reservations when the cars are released into the wild and people want to join the Ocean club.

basically you were just loud and wrong about Tesla, while claimin I know nothing about econ 101

I was right

Tesla will be fine, regardless of demand, build quality and paint. Clearly they have proven that, yet people want to take shots at Tesla. Putting companies who don't even have cars out yet, have proven to fail in the past (Karma), in front of them, is hilarious, and personally ridiculous to me. Just my opinion..

Other than Henrik himself, there is no connection from the former Fisker and the new Fisker. It's like saying since Twitter turned into a dumpster fire, Tesla will turn into a dumpster fire. Oh wait, I see how you made the correlation.

common sense tells us they are 2 different companies(kamara/fisker then and now)
Twitter and tesla are 2 totally different types of businesses
Fisker had an older car company, and now a new car company: THE SAME LINE OF BUSINESS,so terrible Twitter analogy
common sense also tells us Fisker is the same person at the head of the failed karma car
he's simply trying again, just accept it: he failed.

He made some errors in both design and production that ultimately led to the failure of both the Karma and Fisker Automotive as a whole. ALL FACTS!!!

Tesla and Twitter are both tech companies. Common sense also tells us Munsk is the same person at the head of the dumpster fire.

Right, because tweeting is the same as driving a EV vehicle
You win. congrats
Crappy manager is a crappy manager regardless of the industry. Munsk is a great Engineer but a terrible CEO. Until he steps down as CEO, Tesla will not be able to achieve real success.

lol not real success?
serious question, what is "real success" to you? since Tesla being the top EV seller out here, regardless of quality, is not success.
I'll wait.........
Real success is not just volume. The fact that is how you see it explains a lot.

Quality is important regardless of what you think. Sustainable quality is key. Also important is a company with a steadfast business and marketing plan. A company with ethical standing; one with strong environmental and corporate social responsibility. A company that does not have a CEO that acts like an 8 year old. A company that tries to prevent racism and sexual harassment in their workforce.

Tesla getting a lower ESG score than four oil companies tells you everything you need to know about the company.

It's kind of annoying how this forum handles ignore. I can't see anyone quoting them and it looks like there are a dozen people in this thread just talking to themselves.

Of course this is just YOUR opinion of success, which is tainted, because the topic is Tesla. The real goal of ANY company you should agree is to make money, which Tesla has done, and has made Elon Musk pretty much the richest man in the world. <--- yet that's not "real success". Guess he has to be the richest man in the universe to be successful? That's why I just laugh about everyone trying to point out a complaint about Tesla, when Elon is laughing all the way to the bank. Henrick Fisker is not that rich because his previous car company failed, and this new Ocean is not even into consumer hands yet. All he has is broken promises and delays. FACTS. But YET, folks tout Fisker over Tesla, with ZERO Ocean,Ultra, Sport, or Pear sales!!!!! (deposits aren't sales, and 5,000 is still a measly number) Sure the Ocean could work out, but like the movie, we aren't there yet....

Seriously, you bringing up broken promises and delays about Fisker? You are aware of Munsk, right?

This is good. It looks like you are moving on from denial to anger. Just three more steps and then you will be past your Tesla grief.
