Had 2 Teslas and never used the frunk. The model 3 (and probably Y,never tested) isn't big enough to hold a spare tire. But I guess if you're an avid traveler then it will be useful
I'm with you on this (though never owned or even driven a Tesla). I can't say there's ever been a time I've thought "I wish the Leaf had a frunk". I'd just as soon that extra space go to a bit extra cabin space if possible. ... No doubt there are folks who like using a frunk, and get that. Also, I would absolutely expect one in bigger vehicle like a full-sized truck or SUV, but for a passenger car, I don't put much value in one.

We do not use the frunk daily because opening and closing the trunk is more convenient. When we need all the space it is useful. Keeping valuables in the trunk is likely safer than in the trunk. It is also great to show it off for entertainment. So it does have some limited value.

I use my Model 3 frunk frequently. It is the perfect size for putting take-out food and it keeps the food smell out of the car. It is also much more secure for high-value things like laptops. The trunk is accessible by breaking a window and folding the seats. Not a thing I normally worry about, but for a very expensive laptop, frunk is much more secure. The other thing it fits very nicely is my beer cooler. So frunk is very useful to me for beer, pizza, and other valuables. :)

I have a powered frunk on my car and I use it so much more now than before installing it. It will be missed.

Mines been a semi-permanent ball crawl for years and occasionally holds a pizza or take-out bag or two.

Great eye catcher for car shows and EV events...I give out dozens of these Earth stress balls. 🌍

Usually houses my front plate as well since I've never mounted one to the front as required by law in NJ. 🤫

I am impressed with the powered frunk mod! That looked much too involved to me. Instead I did the i1Tesla auto-open strut upgrade (low-cost approach). Once I could do the "Hey Siri, open the frunk" command, it became super useful. Before that it was not. I think at least having auto open is key to making these things actually useful.

From the earnings call.

Thank you. I probably missed it because without details it is difficult to interpret. what test? Internal or external test? etc. I presume the test is not complex, but passing the test (or passing with good specs) is complex. so it seems that the car is not ready, but no public info what is missing or timeline of getting it fixed.

I have also missed this Fiskerism: "we have also built out our complete service and sales network in Europe".

Hello All,
my 2 cents after starting out with model X (currently drive), model 3 second car (currently with daughter) and model Y which I sold after a year. I am waiting for the Rivian R1S (Oct-Dec) delivery Status. Cant wait to get the Fisker Ocean one 1098/5000. Since I have not driven it, looks wise hands down it has a brawny stance. I think it will have some blind spots. Not sure but can the screen be in Landscape when in operation? If not then that would be a big thing to me. They should have added the side cameras to display on the screen while driving, I am not sure if that is possible.
The rear lights look great and the turn signal lights mounted up high look great. Having the solar roof was definitely a huge plus. I initially thought Tesla would added Solar roof on their later models. The wheel arches don't bother me, the interior seems very comfy, hopefully it will not disappoint, the center console should have been left open (Rivian R1s) makes the front area look less cramped. I ordered the Fisker thinking it will come in 2024 and if it is better than the Rivian I was going to keep it. Now I am leaning more and more on Keeping the Fisker and just getting rid of the R1S.
Time will tell .... But being without a personal EV (Tesla X wife's daily driver) TeslaM3 Daughters, I miss having my own EV. Currently driving a GL450 which is for sale .... Anyone wants it let me know....
I will post more on the Ocean once the Showroom open in Southern California at the Grove...

An Ocean one? Production started in Nov 2022, what made you think it will get delivered in 2024? you expect constant delays?
Was not sure if it were going to be another Rivian like production. Rivian when started taking orders said deliveries to begin Jan 22 here we are in March of 2023 and they are still behind. Not transparent about when to expect vehicles. As of now I am being told another update coming on when my delivery will be made end of April. Lets see what they have to say....

You never knew the Ocean to be a 22 model.
Are you telling us that you somehow believed your 23 Ocean would be delivered in 22?
Who is lying again?

I've had a Rivian in my driveway for nearly a year. Supposed to take delivery of the R1S before the end of this month but haven't been given a distinct date on it yet. I think the Fisker Ocean is going to be a better fit for us vs the R1S but we'll likely end up having a few months where we have both before making a decision on which to get rid of.

Not at all, while I was awaiting status on my R1S, Fisker came into the picture and I dropped 5K for a delivery in the first 5000. Back in 21 when I ordered the R1S I was hoping to have it by mid 22 (wishful thinking) I ordered the Ocean as a backup. But now since I want to behind the wheel of a EV I am leaning more towards the Fisker Ocean One. I just don't see Rivian keeping its promise, I was supposed to have a delivery July-Sept but then in Jan I received an update it is pushed to Oct-Dec. With all the layoff at Rivian and how the R1S deliveries are being pushed back I am not sure what to expect.

Pretty sure you read his response wrong. He never said he expected his Ocean in 22, he was talking about the Rivian. He said he expects his Ocean to be delivered in 2024...........

I am in a similar situation. I have an R1S reservation that I made in late 2021 and then put $5k down for the One. I was originally 100% on the R1S but have since shifted direction. Ironically, it was when they raised the prices for all reservation holders; the R1S was more that I wanted to spend and started looking at the Ocean. Even though they went back on the prices a couple days later, by that time I was more invested in the Ocean. The R1S is really nice but just too big for our need. My delivery date keeps slipping on the R1s; now at H1 2024. I am happy with the date slipping as the plan now is to pick up the One and then can decide what I want to do once the R1S is ready.

For me it is the unavailability of the following 3 options that I dislike.
HUD (super used to it and it's hard for me to switch between our Tesla and bmws)
ventilated seats/at least perforated seats (Tesla vegan seats are terrible when its hot, need ventilation)
electric shade(not tint) for the solar panel roof (That shadow is going to drive my toddler really angry)

Other than that, I will be perfectly happy with the Ocean designwise.
No one has seen/driven the production version, so any comment of the ocean going to be bad or amazing is just speculation at this point.

Yeah even though the size is not an issue, the way Rivian has been doing business and not letting buyers know when to expect their vehicles is just annoying. Rivian is still fulfilling orders from 2018, 2019 one 2020 not to mention now they are delivering the dual motors. Anyway id take the ocean one, sick of paying the $5.00 + /gal in so cal.

That hits home that your current ride is a GL450 since that is my current ride. Have never owned an EV. Anyways, the GL450 has been great. With the 2nd+3rd row seats down, it provides amazing cargo space that I have utilized to the fullest moving furniture, getting rid of stuff at the dump etc. Plus even with its 338hp, I average about 18.5mph. I will be passing it down to one of my sons once my Ocean arrives. I am getting a full hitch, and will probably buy an aluminum utility trailer so I can continue transporting and moving household goods as well as trailering a boat with the Ocean.
