Fisker Inc has heard our cries and quickly responded that a "Winter Mode"
Option will be available
Stay tuned for the Launch Configurator in September 2022
Is the launch configurator in September for all trim levels? The Ocean One configurator is slighted for July 2022, right?

Yes,
All Reservation Holders should be able to view all trim levels (Sport, Ultra & Extreme/One)
More importantly, the various option packages will be outlined with what equipment they include

This is great news. Anyone want to take guesses on the six "HOT" features? :) My guesses:
  1. Front heated seats
  2. Rear heated seats
  3. Heated steering wheel
  4. Heated rearview mirrors
  5. Heated windshield wiper landing area
  6. Pre-conditioning?
The last one is a little murky as to whether it will/won't be included with the Ultra as standard. It's not specifically called out on the Ultra but is called out on the Extreme, so I'm assuming it could be an add with a Winter Package?
The heated steering wheel is an absolute must for me. There hasn’t been a real clear specific answer about that so I asked Fisker. Yes, winter package stuff. The One and Extreme will have it stock, the Ultra and Sport it will have to be added as the Winter Package. Probably a no-brainer but for me, I’d take a heated steering wheel over a stereo if it came down to it.

I really hate driving with cold hands. My wife’s Lincoln Nautilus will roast your fingers off. 🔥

Interesting, I never understood the appeal of heated steering wheel. I have it on our Volvo and never use it. Probably because my area only gets under 25F for a week or two during winter.

When I lived in Michigan where -20F wind chills are not unknown and freezing winter temps often seemed to be two of the four seasons, I found a heated steering wheel a must-have. Otherwise the result was trying to drive and operate controls with bulky gloves...not a good outcome. Bare hands would require a long time of sitting and waiting for the instrument panel vents to be blowing hot air toward the wheel.

Its sucks that you just get free heat as a result of the gas engine moving you forward but it’s a energy hit on an EV. So I think it takes a few (weeks, months, who knows) for EV newbies to figure out you use the seat heaters/steering wheel warmer to warm you instead of the hearing vents. At least on the low range electric mile cars like the Volt, i3, Leaf, etc.

I always use carpenter gloves from november thru March it seems. The nice thin gloves with no fingertips. Super comfortable and able to operate all your controls and phone. Those with the steering wheel heater is perfect during fall/winter. :)

New tweet from Henrik. "Winter package with 6 HOT features!" Winter package, hot features. Henrik has a sense of humor.
The tweet is gone, I am looking at the Fisker ONE list of accoutrements and it lists heated seats separately from the winter package. So I am wondering exactly what is in the winter package but the referenced tweet has vanished with Fiskers disconnect from the Twitterverse... Anyone have it saved somehow?

Henrik canceled his Twitter account since Elon Musk decided to buy it (yes, we know how that's going now 😁)

Another example of the problem with their product planning function. A $50k Ultra should have front heated seats at that price point, as others in the industry do for less, with the balance of the content as the optional package. In our area, we just want front heated seats for the cold evenings. Rear seats are empty 95%+ of the time. We never freeze and don't get snow. The rest of that package is wasted on us, but the only way to get the common, basic front heated seats is to buy the entire packge. It will need to be under a grand or so (unlikely, I know) or another reason to leave.

I agree. It's a little weird that the Ultra doesn't come with heated front seats minimum. It's pretty much standard on cars in the price category. I understand they're looking to make a profit off of subscription features from multiple owners with a Flexee lease and all but heated seats are something that almost every just includes.

BMW just started a subscription for heated seats in Korea. I think this is going to go just about as well as charging a monthly subscirption for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

BMW I4 40 already on sale in Canada at CDN$61,390 do not have heated front seat and heated steering wheel either. We need to purchase the "Essential Pkg" at CDN$9,000 to get it with a lot of other options! We are in Canada, one of the coldest country of the planet, what's the hell?

Everything in the "winter package" should be included on a 50k car IMO. I mean we can't pre-heat and cool the car without it? What does that even have to do with the winter? Hopefully the package is not too expensive...

Well if we break this down logically, here is the difference between the Extreme and Ultra with the $19k delta. I will put projected costs next to them to try to match that up with the delta. If it is WAY over $19k everyone will be getting the Extreme or simply back out so Fisker has to be careful.

Smart Track - this one is tough since I think it is all software, perhaps $1-2k or subscription?
Performance Bump (3.6 from 3.9 sec) - also should be only software, $1-2k or subscription.
Solar Roof - people have been estimating this anywhere from $5-7k (however, not available on the Ultra).
Rotating Screen - I will lump this in with the Hyper stereo below since not available on the Ultra.
Hyper Stereo (from Premium) - perhaps a $3k value (not available on Ultra)
ADAS upgrades - this will definitely be a subscription but package may cost $4-6k based on Tesla's price point.
Winter Package - should be $2-3k IMO.
Limo Mode - value maybe $1k (not available on Ultra)
Ambient Lighting (Premium) - no idea what this is so let's just call it $1k (not available on Ultra).

So my estimate is a $18-25k "value" in optional equipment on the Extreme. The higher number (25) seems fairly realistic. So here is hoping they don't get crazy with option prices and simply anger people out of their reservations!

For those of us who personally assign ZERO value to any of those and just need heated front seats in the family car that goes shopping, out to dinner/appointments, airport, etc., there is no attraction to Extreme at all. Depending on how the Winter Package is priced, just to get those front seats heatable, that may unfortunately become the situation for Ultra as well.

Agreed. My wife's Mazda CX-5 has heated (and ventilated) front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and remote start via app...all included on a car with an MSRP for $13K less than the Ultra. She does use the heated steering wheel and remote start to heat the car in the winter, but we have never used the rear heated seats at all. Once the Ultra configurator is out with option pricing, that will drive the go/no-go decision for us to proceed with our reservation. I've already passed on the One, as it's beyond what I'm willing to spend without a lot more detail around local servicing, range, performance, objective 3rd party reviews, etc. If the Ultra goes past $53-55K with the Winter Package and Silver Lining paint (and ideally a set of 22" wheels)...we may have to reconsider, which would be a damn shame.

Agreed. The point I was trying to make was that the Winter Package is a pretty small part of the overall cost between the Extreme and the Ultra. So I do not think it will be anywhere near $9k as someone else lamented. $2-3k seems reasonable.
